Tuesday night once again reiterated just how bad Chelsea are defensively. Bayern Munich are a quality team, but they found it far to easy to slice through the weak and unorganised Chelsea back line.
As a result, Chelsea face the impossible task of going to Munich and scoring 4 goals without conceding to go through to the next round of the Champions League.
According to The Daily Mirror, this has caused Blues boss Frank Lampard to consider a ‘defensive overhaul’ this summer.
They present RB Leipzig centre back Dayot Upamecano as being Lampard’s number one target for that position this summer, oddly naming him as a partner for Antonio Rudiger – who has actually been one of the worst performing defenders for Lampard this season!
However, there have been many teams linked with Upamecano so a lot could happen here. But in my view, Chelsea should be focusing more right now on playing the decent defender they do currently have over Rudiger, Fikayo Tomori.
