How Chelsea should line up when Loftus-Cheek is back fully fit

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is on the firm road to recovery now as he played his first bit of competitive football since his serious achilles injury last season.

It was pure happiness to see the midfielder take to the pitch in Chelsea blue once again, and although it will be a few more weeks before we will see him back in the first team fold, just having him back in full training and taking part in development squad matches is a bliss.

Blues fans cannot expect miracles when he does slot back in – as with Callum Hudson-Odoi, after a serious injury it might take a bit of time for him to find his feet again.

But when he does, this is what I believe would be Chelsea’s strongest starting eleven, obviously formation and selection is dependent on the opposition and will have rotation, so see this as a generic choice of mine.

In a 4-2-3-1 –

Kepa, James, Christensen, Tomori, Azpilicueta. Kovacic, Kante. Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, Abraham.
