Chelsea linked with one of Bundesliga’s biggest names, £36M the magic number

Chelsea have been linked with a potential move for Colombian superstar James Rodriguez by The Sun, who cite information published by Spanish newspaper Marca.

Marca’s report claims that James will not be staying at Bayern beyond the end of the season. His loan is set to expire and there appears to be no desire to keep him there.

James will be 28 in July. He’s (supposed to be) in the peak years of his career, yet has been unable to find a place to settle since leaving Porto in 2013.

With the belief being that Zinedine Zidane won’t take him back at the Santiago Bernabeu either, the search is set to begin to find James a new club.

Whether Chelsea will be able to make a move is unclear, with the transfer ban still in place, but The Sun have mentioned us as a possible destination, along with Manchester United.

Chelsea don’t currently play with a number 10, which is James’ preferred position, but if Maurizio Sarri believed he could function in midfield or out-wide, we’d be mad not to go for it.

We have a great deal of talented youngsters on our books, we need to be signing established, world-class players. James is one.

£36M is the magic number, per the report. Surely we have to be all over that?
