Chelsea prodigy could remain with the Blues if potential outgoing comes to fruition

Chelsea are reluctant to see both Eden Hazard and Callum Hudson-Odoi walk out the exit door this summer, according to The Sun.

Fancy that? We’d rather not lose our best player and most promising youngster in a period where we’ll be unable to replace them. Nobody could have seen that coming…

Both players’ contracts are due to expire in the summer of 2020, which has (naturally) seen speculation over their long-term future at Chelsea intensify.

As The Sun report, Real Madrid are after Eden Hazard, while both Bayern Munich and PSG have been linked with Hudson-Odoi. That’s sufficient interest to turn both players’ heads.

While the report acknowledges the possibility of Hazard signing for Real Madrid, there is a suggestion that Hudson-Odoi’s future may be taken out of his hands if his teammate departs.

That would be understandable. Even with Christian Pulisic coming in, it would be unwise to lose the pair of them, with both Pedro and Willian now being the wrong side of 30.

We have had difficulty out on the flanks for years, with Hazard being the escapism from said problems. The only way of dampening the blow of his departure would be giving CHO his minutes.

If Hudson-Odoi was able to play regularly here, he could see staying as beneficial for his career. Whether it would happen under Maurizio Sarri, though, remains to be seen.
