Callum Hudson-Odoi was given a call up to the England U21s for the first time this week, but injuries and withdrawals have changed everything – he’s now been called up to Gareth Southgate’s senior team.
The news was confirmed this afternoon:
The rise and rise of Callum Hudson-Odoi: #CFC's 18-year-old winger has been called up to Gareth Southgate's senior England squad for the games against Czech Republic and Montenegro

What a moment for Callum, and what a moment for Chelsea.

Gareth Southgate clearly believes in him, as do the Chelsea fans. So how long until Maurizio Sarri does likewise?
He may well end up leaving the club this summer, but this progress might actually help us keep hold of him. If he feels like his career is still able to progress while he’s just playing occasionally, he might be persuaded to stay and continue his development here.
On the other hand, maybe getting this big break will convince him of his own ability, and make him even more determined to leave and go somewhere where he is valued.
Let’s just hope it’s the former.
