Chelsea deny approaching German tactician to replace Antonio Conte

Chelsea have moved to deny growing reports that manager Zantonio Conte will be replaced by former Borussia Dortmund head coach Thomas Tuchel.

German newspaper Bild reported recently that Chelsea officials have been in contact with Tuchel over a proposed move to replace Conte at Chelsea.

The report claimed, Chelsea’s frustrations followed Conte’s text message to Diego Costa in June telling the striker he was no longer part of the club’s future.

The club did not take too kindly to Conte’s approach and were in search of a replacement. That search took them to Tuchel, but according to Goal, Chelsea have denied any of such reports.

Goal’s report claims Chelsea are happy to carry on with Conte and will not take drastic actions following the Italian’s summer frustrations.

The former Juventus manager has voiced his troubles in the transfer market as his side are few in numbers and has been looking to add to his side despite the likes of Alvaro Morata, Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko arriving. He wants more.

This development – that Conte stays – will be a huge boost to Chelsea after they recovered from their opening game loss to Burnley in stunning fashion to beat Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, and are looking to kick start their title defense from there.
