With a fee reported to be £39.8m, Tiemoue Bakayoko will be a serious investment for Chelsea this summer. Plenty of the other deals being done in the last few weeks are making that sum look smaller, but Chelsea will certainly want full commitment from their new man.

One indication they will get it is from a photo posted on the midfielder’s Instagram. It shows Bakayoko giving a trophy to a young fan at a tournament organised by the midfielder in his native Ivory Coast.

Plenty of football fans there grow up as Chelsea fans these days because of the towering influence of Didier Drogba, who is one of the most influential figures in the nations history, let alone its sporting history.

Bakayoko’s social media has been littered with hints about his impending move, and this will surely endear him to fans of his new club who are disappointed about losing home grown talent like Nat Chalobah in recent days.
