Antonio Conte says he’s unsure on Diego Costa’s Chelsea future

After Chelsea’s 3-2 loss to Real Madrid last night, Antonio Conte told he was unsure where Diego Costa’s future stands with the club, according to Sky Sports.

The Spaniard has missed the last two of Chelsea’s International Champions Cup fixtures following a back injury, and even the manager is not entirely certain if he will be part of the third and last game against AC Milan next Wednesday night.

Costa has been widely linked with a move back to Atletico Madrid, as the club that sold the striker for Chelsea two years ago, are now tabling a £40m bid for him.

And speaking after the match in Michigan, Conte had to confirm the 27-year-old’s situation at the club is not in his awarness.

I can say that today Costa is a Chelsea player.

He didn’t play in these games because of injury and if he solves the injury and I see in training that he is in good shape it can be possible to see him in the next game against Milan.

But I can say only this. I speak only for today and today Costa is Chelsea’s player. Tomorrow if you ask me if Costa will remain with us, I don’t know.

Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a big-money move back to Stamford Bridge.

Conte was also questioned in his post-match interview if he was attempting to sign Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, as British media reports.

But the Italian refused to confirm any interest from him towards the player, and gave no comment.

I do not want to speak about the players of other teams.

This is not respectful to the club or to their players. I prefer not to speak.

The transfer market is not the most important thing. The important thing is to build a team – a team that plays in good and bad situations and concentrates and works together.
