Player will arrive at Stamford Bridge this week ‘wanting to prove his own decision right’

One player will be arriving at Stamford Bridge this week wanting to prove his own decision right, according to a report yesterday.

Chelsea welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge for their next Premier League clash on Thursday evening, and neither side have really lit things up this season and are struggling with real inconsistencies.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea send scouts to watch striker on international break!

Mauricio Pochettino’s side only managed a draw at home to ten men Burnley on Saturday afternoon, and this game has now become somewhat of a mid-table clash, or at least that is how Sky Sports are billing it.

And they have also honed in some focus on midfielder Mason Mount returning to Stamford Bridge after being sold by the club in the summer.

They believe Mount will be targeting some momentum now when he touches grass at his former home on Thursday night, wanting to prove his own decision to leave the club as the correct decision.

Laura Howard of Sky writes: ‘A mid-table battle might not have been how Mason Mount anticipated his Chelsea return to play out, but he will arrive at Stamford Bridge wanting to prove his own decision right.

‘For all of three minutes on Saturday, Mount appeared to be belatedly living up to his billing as Manchester United’s hero. That was until Kristoffer Ajer corked celebrations with a deserved 99th-minute equaliser.

‘It was another underwhelming United performance in a season which has proved equally underwhelming for the Englishman. Ruled out through injury since November, Mount returned with a cameo in the FA Cup victory over Liverpool touted to kickstart a so far limp season for Erik Ten Hag’s side.

‘While United’s boost has not materialised, Mount could be finding his stride. His goal against Brentford was his first of the season and a clash with his former club, who have conceded two in each of their last five matches, presents an opportunity for more.’
