Yesterday there was an image circulating online suggesting that Chelsea had gotten themselves a big shiny new shirt sponsor.

The Telegraph report that Oman Air will not be Chelsea’s shirt sponsor of any kind, although they have confirmed a new partnership of some sort between the two.

So will it still be the controversial decision of gambling company Stake?

No, it will not. The same report goes on to say that Chelsea have pulled out of negotiations with Stake over becoming the club’s new front of shirt sponsor and are now in talks with other companies.

A one-year deal with Stake had been close to being agreed and prompted criticism from the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust and other groups of fans over the possibility of the club partnering with a betting firm.

While Oman Air appear to have become a partner of Chelsea of some sort, the brand’s name and logo is not expected to appear on the club’s shirt during the forthcoming season.
