“One source refuted claims” – Chelsea manager chase news cleared up

Chelsea are soon to be hiring Mauricio Pochettino as their next permanent manager at Stamford Bridge, as is what every major outlet has been reporting since last weekend now.

Pochettino is to this week sign the contract and then we will just need to wait for the official announcement.

Sources: Chelsea have big plans for current forward who they rate highly!

However, of course there were other candidates and Pochettino was not the only one. Chelsea were also looking at former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann, who had become a free agent and was available.

There had been some claims made by Nagelsmann’s agent this week that has been denied by other sources.

As cited by Si & Dan Talk Chelsea today, Nagelsmann’s agent Volker Struth said to Bild podcast Phrasenmaher: “I can confirm that Chelsea were quick to call (after Nagelsmann’s dismissal at Bayern Munich). There were some phone conversations.

“It was the right decision (by Nagelsmann) not to go there. It’s a club in troubled waters at the moment. And their transfer policy, spending a few hundred million euros, has raised expectations that need to be met. There were also some other issues.

“He was their number one (choice), that was our information. I believe it would have happened if he had wanted it.”

But sources at Sky Sports News have refuted those claims. They say that Pochettino emerged as the outstanding candidate after an exhaustive process interviewing others.
