“We have done it in the past” – Former Chelsea player gives verdict on Real Madrid draw

Chelsea have once again been drawn against Real Madrid in the latter stages of the Champions League knockout rounds, and they’ve been here before.

It was the semi final in 2021 when Chelsea knocked Real Madrid out of the competition, winning 3-1 on aggregate.

Sources: Manchester United reignite interest in Chelsea man, plus are set to battle Blues for a number of striker targets this summer!

And now, just two years later, the two sides meet again in the quarter finals of the competition.

Of course, in 2021, Chelsea went on to win the whole thing against all the odds, but can they do it again?

Former Chelsea player Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink thinks they have to believe they can, and the fact they have done it before in similar circumstances with a manager change during the season, means there is no reason why they cannot do it again this season.

In quotes picked up by The Metro today, Hasselbaink said on Chelsea’s chances of winning the Champions League again this season: “If you want to win the Champions League, you have to beat the best.

“It’s not going to be an easy game, but you have to believe. We have done it in the past and there’s no reason why we can’t do it again.”

It certainly won’t be an easy tie, but as he says, we’ve done it before! Dare to dream.
