Chelsea stepping up interest in new midfielder as Enzo or Caicedo alternative

There is a new midfielder on the radar of Chelsea during these late stages of the window as they look to still add another body in that area of the pitch before the window closes.

The Blues have been trying to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, and/or Moises Caicedo from Brighton. Up until now, they have not managed to get either deal done. Obviously there is still time left for both deals.

But According to The Times, Chelsea are also now stepping up their interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana as a possible alternatives to the players mentioned above.

Benfica and Brighton are both refusing to budge in their valuations which has forced Chelsea to consider alternatives, and the Belgium international Onana is high on the list, although Everton do not want to sell him.

It’s unclear what sort of a deal this would be, whether a permanent or a loan to buy, but it might be one to keep an eye on.
