Only Graham Potter can change the current transfer situation of one player right now, according to reports.
Potter will be given quite a lot of decision-making responsibilities at Chelsea under the new ownership and recruitment team. But really, it sounds like it will be a collective decision with most operations at the club moving forward, with Potter firmly involved.

Contracts and transfers though, Potter will have a big influence. And according to Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive Substack newsletter with Caught Offside today, Potter is the only one who can change the N’Golo Kante contract situation right now.
Kante is unlikely to be extending at Chelsea, according to Romano, and it looks like he will now be leaving as a free agent come the summer. But he does add that the Blues boss can still change this situation.
“Where Kante could go, it’s still too early to say,” Romano said. “He doesn’t seem likely to stay because there’s still no agreement.
“Kante loves Chelsea and he’d love to stay but the club is going in different direction with salaries/young players project. Chelsea are following many young and talented midfielders to be ready in 2023, January or summer.
“Only Graham Potter can change the situation.”
I guess if Kante comes back in fit and then plays a key role for Potter for the rest of the season, he might ask the board to extend his contract if they can.
