“One of the worst transfer windows ever” – Pundit destroys Blues’ summer efforts

Gab Marcotti is not a Chelsea correspondent but he does go to a lot of games at Stamford Bridge and always has great insight on the Blues.

His perspective after Graham Potter’s rough start to life at the club was that the Blues had had “one of the worst transfer windows ever” in the summer.

He pointed out that in both the players they sold and the players they bought, the club got weaker as a result of their summer moves. Not what a new coach needs to make a good impression.

This isn’t about excusing Potter, who has made mistakes of his own – it’s about putting his struggles into context. And we agree with everything Gab says.

That doesn’t mean the coach is excused for the mistakes he’s made – but it certainly reminds you that he’s working with a group that was flawed even before injury stripped key men away.
