Reece James won’t have surgery on knee problem after visit to specialist

Well it’s been a very quiet day of news on the Chelsea front – save for updates on Reece James, which have been coming thick and fast.

This is our third of the day – and luckily it seems to be a good one.

The right back had scans on his knee injury earlier this week which indicated he was likely to need surgery and miss two months or more of the season and the World Cup – but an update from David Ornstein today has revealed that a visit to a specialist in London has opened up the possibility of him not having surgery at all.

All being well, that should reduce his time out significantly.

Chelsea fans will remain wary through – Ben Chilwell opted against surgery this time a year ago with a similar issue, but in the end the issue didn’t clear up as hoped, and he did end up having a much delayed procedure after all.
