“It is for me to find a solution” – Thomas Tuchel takes responsibility for poor Chelsea form

It was one of the most difficult post-match interviews we have ever had to witness from Thomas Tuchel during his reign at the club so far.

He looked deflated, exhausted, tired, and he wasn’t in any mood for talking or offering any excuses. His team had just been embarrassed by Dinamo Zagreb losing 1-0 to a team they were expected to brush aside.

EXCL: Significant Chelsea contract updates on Loftus-Cheek, Kovacic, Mount, and more!

It was all Chelsea as usual, but there wasn’t that penetration or enough effort and desire to get the goals or get the win, and it is something we have all grown far too used to seeing in recent times, especially this season so far.

Tuchel is rightly concerned, and so he should be. But he has held his hands up and says now it is up to him to find a solution for this poor form and performances. But at the same time, he says he does now know where these poor performances are coming from. Will he have the answers? Well, he has a few days to get them before Fulham at the weekend.

As cited by the Chelsea website, Thomas Tuchel said: “It is for me to find a solution. It is obvious that we underperform individually. I don’t really know where this performance today comes from. For me it is a lack of hunger, a lack of intensity and lack of determination to win duels and do the things on the highest level and at the toughest level.

“You cannot expect to win games in the Premier League and the Champions League like this. They are the toughest competitions that we can play in and we are clearly not where we want to be.

“I thought we were on a good way and I am surprised by this performance today.”
