Timo Werner will leave Chelsea on a permanent deal this summer, with RB Leipzig set to buy back the attacker.
Florian Plettenberg, usually the top man man for transfer stories in the Bundesliga, reported that it’s “almost a done deal”.
He calls it a massive deal for Leipzig and the Bundesliga. His initial Tweet for an hour claimed that it will be a loan deal with an option to buy, but things have developed quickly since then.
🚨 Excl. Timo #Werner: He is on verge to join Leipzig! It’s almost a DONE DEAL. Positive developments in the last days. Timo wants to return & he will. Total agreement expected in the next week. Massive deal for RB and the Bundesliga! #CFC @Sky_Marc @philipphinze24 @SkySportDE 🇩🇪

Fabrizio Romano missed out on the initial story, but has swooped in half an hour later to claim that it will in fact be a permanent deal. It sounds like this has been some time in the making – Romano writes that personal terms have been agreed for a month already.

Finally, we’ve found a buyer, and we can move on from the failed Werner experiment. What a disappointment! Good luck back in Germany, Timo
