Fabrizio Romano: “Todd Boehly will appoint a new sporting director in the coming months”

New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly will reportedly appoint a new sporting director in the coming months, according to a report today.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has written in his exclusive Substack newsletter today, that Boehly plans to appoint a sporting director very soon, and he also has some names to reveal.

Sources: Updates on SIX attackers Thomas Tuchel is looking to sign this window.

Romano says that he understands Chelsea fans feeling frustrated right now with Boehly seemingly taking on more than he can handle right now, and being without much footballing help at all. Thomas Tuchel has also had to do a lot of the work on transfers himself, and the situation is far from ideal during what is a very important transfer window at the club.

Romano says though, names such as Michael Edwards have already been approached, but he wanted to take a break right now. Other names such as Maxwell is on the list, but no decisions have been made yet.

It’s a precarious situation that really needs to be sorted out, and in hindsight, it probably should have been the first thing that the new owners did when they arrived, because they could sure do with an experienced footballing brain alongside them right now.

“I can understand Blues fans feeling frustrated at the moment after being beaten to Raphinha by Barcelona, and history now looking like repeating itself with Jules Kounde,” Romano explains.

“It’s certain that Todd Boehly will appoint a new sporting director in the coming months – Chelsea will need a board that will take care of the transfers. Michael Edwards was approached after his departure from Liverpool, but he took his time because he wanted a break. Maxwell is another name on Boehly’s list but there are no advanced decisions yet as Chelsea are now busy on new signings.

  1. Chelsea seriously needs to take things serious. Todd Boehly want to do things by himself forgetting that this is football and need people with experience in all departments.

Chelsea needs an experienced sporting director and a good scout who is able to source players even unknown tallented players can be sourced we dnt always need players that are already made with big names and expensive there are many players out there we can pick up with little amount and improve them.

  2. Truly speaking Bohly is not ready for the business at all.We the fans are tired of all these nonsense.he should not have even buy the club in the first instance.
