Chelsea’s most pressing area on the pitch to improve in is the defence right now, having lost two first team defenders in Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
It’s not the only area that needs improving, which perhaps shows the mammoth task ahead for the club and Thomas Tuchel, but they will certainly be looking to bring in a couple of new centre-backs this summer to cover the departing players.

Jules Kounde is obviously spoken about as being the first and priority defender to come in, even though that is yet to be a done deal.
But there is likely to be another defender arriving as well, and two names being strongly linked are Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli and Matthijs De Ligt from Juventus.
The informed Ben Jacobs was on The Si & Dan Talk Chelsea Podcast last night for an hour-long show, and he delivered some very interesting info on the pair.
Perhaps the most intriguing bit here is the suggestion of a potential Jorginho swap deal….
