What defines a dead rubber? Probably home fans in the stadium signing about a rival team even as their team concedes.
That’s exactly what happened in yesterday’s Chelsea match against Watford. The Hornets scored, but the Matthew Harding End were too deep into the “Steve Gerrard – Demba Ba” song to notice really. Word had filtered out that Liverpool had fumbled the title and the Bridge wasn’t going to let that one slip without notice (no pun intended).
The best part, of course, is that Chelsea went up the other end straight away and won the game anyway.
