Thomas Tuchel makes subtle hint to pending new Chelsea board ahead of transfer window

Chelsea had to settle for just a point at home to Leicester City last night after dominating the game at Stamford Bridge.

It was the usual case of Thomas Tuchel’s side having all the possession but without really finding a way through a stubborn defence.

Marcos Alonso provided a good finish for the equaliser, but other than that it was the same old story of failing to create chances and penetrate, and then when the rare chances did arrive, wasting easy opportunities.

Tuchel was speaking about this at the end of the game and has perhaps sent a subtle message to the pending new owners about what he might need in this current squad, pointing out the fact that he has to rely on wing-backs to setup and score the goals. It was a perfect Reece James cross that setup Alonso for his goal.

“It’s the story of the season,” Tuchel said in his post-match press conference as reported by Football London. “We need an assist from a wing-back and a goal from a wing-back. You can see the numbers of our offensive players and the numbers [from the offensive players] that are in front of us.

“Maybe it does not feel 100% like this because the gap is so big to the team teams, but ok, we have stuff to and stuff to improve. We are the first to admit, and from here we go.”
