The media, as well as rival football fans, have been hanging on for any slight issue that might cause a delay or stop the sale of Chelsea FC over recent months.
And just when we all thought it was a done deal (it still pretty much is), further hysteria was reported yesterday via The BBC (below), amongst others, with ‘major hurdles’ to overcome, apparently.
Seven alternative defensive midfielders to Rice and Tchouameni that Chelsea may look at.

But really, it was something of nothing, and as always, if you want factual and non sensational words on what is actually happening, you go to Ben Jacob’s Twitter page. Ben has been fantastic throughout the ownership stuff and is hugely reliable, clearly having the best sources on this.
He says it how it is and right away, it was panic over. Imagine my shock. He says Chelsea are confident of announcing the deal this week still, and there are no expected issues.
As he says in the thread below, it’ll be done by the middle of this week.
Chelsea are still fully confident of officially announcing the takeover by the middle of this week and expect UK Gov. approval by end of day tomorrow. Approval by the Portuguese government is NOT considered a significant or time-consuming hurdle, according to Chelsea sources.
