The Chelsea sale will soon be reaching a conclusion now with Todd Boehly’s group in a period of exclusivity.
I don’t think it’s fully over yet after the late arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe to the party, but it now looks like it is just a matter of time before Boehly gets this over the line.
Revealed: The profile of player that Thomas Tuchel really likes.
They have this week now to tie it all up and confirm with Chelsea all the final details before they officially get handed the keys of the club. Barring any late drama, it looks like Boehly, alongside his main investors Clearlake, will soon be the new Chelsea owners.
Clearlake will be the majority stakeholders in Chelsea and Blues fans might be reassured to know that Clearlake’s voice in the Chelsea sale comes from Behdad Eghbali, who has been very engaged and hands on in the process and is a football fan, according to the knowledgeable Ben Jacobs.
It’s natural to view Clearlake as a faceless private investment firm, and so EPL rightly have sought reassurances. But Clearlake’s voice in the Chelsea sale comes from Behdad Eghbali (Clearlake co-founder). He’s been very engaged and hands on in the process and is a football fan.

Boehly will have most of the control of the club but Eghbali will also be heavily involved.
Todd Boehly has led the pitch and will have operational control if successful as a minority owner. But Eghbali has been heavily involved so far, including on plans for the football side.

Clearlake also aren’t a ‘new’ addition either. Am told their involvement and share split was always the plan, pretty much ever since Boehly and Hansjorg Wyss joined forces.
