‘We’re coming back” – Thomas Tuchel says he feels his Chelsea team ‘growing’

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was a proud man after the League Cup final on Sunday despite losing the game on penalties.

His players were more than up for the fight and more than matched the quality and desire of Liverpool. Penalties are always a lottery and to be honest how close they were in the end was probably a perfect reflection on how close the entire game was, no team really deserved to be the losers on the night.

Tuchel’s words after the game will be  very reassuring and exciting for Chelsea fans to read as he speaks about his team now ‘coming back’ and ‘growing’ in confidence and stature as more key players return from injuries and performances start getting much better recently.

The last two games have looked a lot more like Tuchel’s Chelsea, and a team that nobody wants to play against.

“Reecey comes in after eight weeks of injury and plays almost in our level,” explained Tuchel as reported by the Chelsea website. “I am proud, I have to say. We’re in a good way.

“It was a bit rough for us but since we came back from Abu Dhabi. We had a tight game against Crystal Palace, trained very well after. Played a good match against Lille, trained even better after. I feel the group growing and it proved it in this game.

“We’re coming back. We got quality back today with Reece who made a huge impact for us and we’re in good shape.

“Trevoh Chalobah did not play for six to eight weeks, and he just played 120 minutes against Diaz, Mane and Salah. And he was brilliant too.”
