There are a lot of players who have been fantastic players for Chelsea, and there are a lot of players who really “get” the club and build an instant connection with the fans.

There aren’t many who do both, but there’s no question that Thiago Silva is one of them. The veteran has only been at the club for 18 months but it feels like 18 years. The way that the fans hailed him – and he hailed them back – last night shows the deep and still growing bond between the two.

Can he stay… forever?
