Thomas Tuchel gives updates on the return of Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante

The matches are still coming in thick and fast for Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel right now as the busy festive period continues over into January.

Perhaps being victims of their own success in a way, Chelsea see another fixture coming at them this Wednesday evening with the second leg of the League Cup semi final against Tottenham to prepare for.

The Blues lead 2-0 from the first leg but they will have to totally be on their game and professional to see this one through and land themselves in yet another major cup final.

Tuchel has been asked whether he will once again have two very important players Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante available for selection for Spurs on Wednesday after the pair tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

Under the new protocols it seems that as long as they provide a negative test on that day then they will be allowed to feature, and Tuchel is hopeful.

“Whether they return depends on how Thiago and N’Golo feel in themselves and it also depends on the tests they do and the regulations, if I’m not wrong,” said Tuchel via the Chelsea website.

“So I cannot give any update on those two ahead of Tottenham just yet. We are hopeful to have them but at the moment I cannot report on their availability.”
