Report: Fee and contract terms agreed for Chelsea to sign Hungarian defender in January

Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement for a fee and contract details to make their first signing of the January transfer window.

The Blues have a number of contractual issues at the back that they are trying to deal with, but a couple of situations there now look up in the air, so this report could have some legs if Chelsea are looking to make some contingency plans in defence.

According to CNN Turk, Chelsea have agreed a €23.4m fee with Fenerbahce to sign centre back, Attila Szalai.

The 23-year old Hungarian international has also agreed a contract at Chelsea according to the same report ahead of a January transfer to Stamford Bridge.

He will reportedly sign a six-year contract with Chelsea and receive an annual salary of €4m.

This isn’t the first time we have seen these links with Chelsea and Szalai, so it might be worth keeping an eye on.

  1. Sensible move, if true, by Chelsea, will send a message to Rudiger and Christiansen that they are not indispensable, and for that matter, other members too!
