Chelsea attacker acknowledges poor form but says he is “trying to find that rhythm again”

Chelsea carved out a narrow 1-0 victory in the Champions League last night over Malmo, and now they are on the brink of qualification to the knockout stages.

It was a fixed up formation for Thomas Tuchel in the absence of many injured players once again, and it gave an opportunity for some of the fringe players to grab a rare start.

Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi have been two players enjoying the starts recently with all the injuries, and they linked up well last night to get Chelsea’s only and winning goal.

It was a lovely cross pass from Hudson-Odoi to find Ziyech with a simple tap in finish. But all has not been well for Ziyech in his Chelsea career, he’s been hit with injuries, inconsistency, and poor form and it has seen doubts creep in from Blues fans over whether he is good enough.

The attacker has been addressing his poor form but wants to fight back, as reported on the Chelsea website:

“I try to be important to the team with some goals and assists. I had some hard times behind me. I had the injury and didn’t really recover fully from it. I work really hard, even when it’s not going how it’s supposed to go, but I always believed in myself and the things that I can do on the pitch. That’s why I’m still believing and trying to deliver on the pitch.

“I started good in pre-season, had the injury and I’m trying to find my rhythm again and that’s what I’m working hard for.

“I know what I can do and where my highest level is. Like I said, I had some hard times with injuries and stuff and finding my rhythm again. I’ve never been able to get in the rhythm again, but that is something that you have to work hard for it and that’s what I’m doing every day, I’m trying to find that rhythm again.”
