It was a good game to rest him – we’re not sure he would have had much to do even if he had been on the pitch.
As it was he’s had a good break, and according to Thomas Tuchel, he won’t be out long. In fact, this midweek’s game against Southampton could see the midfielder return.
We wouldn’t imagine he would be risked for an EFL Cup game – maybe just 20 minutes at the end – but we will see.
