All you can hope for from an early Carabao Cup round is plenty of young players and a good game – and that’s exactly what we got last night.
Chelsea used some new faces and some returning loanees, and the team produced an enjoyable game against a strong Aston Villa side, ending in a penalty shootout win.
Thomas Tuchel wasn’t getting too excited in his press conference after the game, but he praised the performances of some of his players and the spirit shown by a heavily rotated team.
