Jules Kounde speaks out on his failed move to Chelsea and future plans

We all know about the transfer saga involving Chelsea and Sevilla defender Jules Kounde the summer just passed.

It was touch and go right until deadline day, but in the end Chelsea’s offer wasn’t enough for Sevilla to accept, and there might have been a bit of goal post moving in the negotiations.

Either way, Kounde was waiting to join Chelsea and was probably left more than disappointed that he wasn’t able to make his dream move to the Premier League.

However, Kounde is a professional and he is concentrating on his immediate future now, which of course is playing for Sevilla.

“It’s in the past now,” Kounde told reporters yesterday when questioned about his failed move to Chelsea, as cited by The Daily Mail.

You kind of get the feel from that reaction alone that there is almost certainly some major disappointment from the young defender.

But he remains focused on ready to do his best for Sevilla this season.

“We all know that the summer was troubled.” Kounde continued.

“I am concentrated on the team. The most important showing is the one on the pitch. The team needs me and and I also need the team to give my very best which is what I try to do.

“Up until this point, I’m happy with the team’s results and my own personal performances, even if I can improve a little bit still and do better than last season.”
