It is within Chelsea’s benefit to sign Erling Haaland this summer and not next, for more than one reason.
They need a ready-made world class striker right now, one that will come in and get goals right away, that is the main reason.
But another reason, as reiterated by Sky Italy’s Angelo Mangiante, is because Real Madrid are one of the major clubs expected to come in for Haaland next summer when his release clause comes in to play.
So it is definitely a case of now or never if Chelsea want to land Haaland at all.
Mangiante also reminds us all of Chelsea’s backup plan, and that is Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku.
He claims that if Chelsea cannot get Haaland, then Lukaku becomes the ‘first choice’ striker target.
Real Madrid are in the race of the Top Clubs who want Haaland and are willing to wait for him also next year.
