Chelsea striker still wanted by AC Milan despite contract situation

Chelsea often like to operate their transfer business behind closed doors and if they can, keep things from leaking.

There have been many examples of this over time, and one very recent surprising situation of this nature at the end of last week.

The Blues announced that they had taken up the option to extend the contract of Olivier Giroud, and although the official announcement only came last week, in the press release it says the deal was triggered back in April, some two months back.

Not a soul had reported it, meaning Chelsea managed to keep it inside only.

Of course, this put doubts on Giroud’s future and whether he will still be leaving the club or not, but it looks like he may still, with the club triggering the clause in order to get a fee for their Champions League winning striker instead of losing him for free.

And according to Sport Mediaset as cited by Milan News, AC Milan are still keen on signing Giroud this situation even if they do have to pay a fee.
