Key injury update on Edouard Mendy ahead of Champions League final

Chelsea are getting ready to play in their third ever Champions League final this Saturday, and they have a 50% win record at this stage.

The Blues famously won the competition in 2012 beating Bayern Munich entirely against the odds, but in 2008 they lost to Manchester United on penalties in the final.

Now, they face the other big Manchester side in the final and are looking to take home their second Champions League trophy.

One major plus point is that they should have goalkeeper Edouard Mendy back and available for selection after he came off injured on Sunday evening, after colliding with the goal post.

Concerns he may have cracked a rib are put to bed, and The Telegraph say that Chelsea are now optimistic that Mendy will be fit to play on Saturday.

This is of course is very big news, with Mendy being one of Chelsea’s best performers this season and a real leader at the back.
