Former Blue names two positions Chelsea are lacking in, and sends a name to the club

Chelsea were frustratingly beaten by Leicester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday evening, just a few days after being beaten by Arsenal in the league.

It marked the end to a very bad week for the club, the worst since Thomas Tuchel took the reigns in January.

Eden Hazard could really be set for a return to Chelsea this summer, find out more here.

Pundits, fans, and former players have been wading in with their views on what went wrong for Tuchel and Chelsea, and unfortunately there is quite a lot to talk about.

One thing for sure is they need to sign a new striker this summer, that is something most people are in agreement with. And former Chelsea player Alan Hudson believes Timo Werner is not good enough, and Chelsea need to target Harry Kane.

Speaking to Caught Offside, Hudson said:

“The one thing for certain is Werner is not up to scratch.

“I’ve said for some time that a Harry Kane is needed. He would have buried that first half chance against Arsenal, and would’ve made a difference had he played in a Blue shirt at Wembley.”

Kane would be a popular choice indeed, but seems massively unrealistic.

Hudson also believes Chelsea need a goal scoring midfielder like Frank Lampard.

He continued:

“Frank Lampard scoring 25 goals a season from midfield would be a dream alongside Kante today. If only.

“We’ve allowed standards to drop. I expected more from Mason Mount, although Leicester did a sound job there – and after losing a key player in Jonny Evans.”
