Kai Havertz was key to Chelsea’s impressive performance against Crystal Palace today, and after the game manager Thomas Tuchel was asked about his feelings on how his charge had performed.
Tuchel was full of praise as you’d expect, but his most interesting comment was less complimentary. He said that “Kai will never be [Chelsea’s] emotional leader”, perhaps pointing to the midfielder’s quiet and reserved demeanour both on and off the pitch.
It wasn’t meant as an insult, but it’s an interesting revelation of where Tuchel thinks Havertz’ limits are.
