Thomas Tuchel is in an incredibly difficult position at the moment, with his club doing all kinds of madness behind the scenes and leaving him out there to answer all the questions about decision which he didn’t make.
Of course he’s not going to undermine his employers, but he came about as close as he could when he said that “it’s all about competition.” He was trying to avoid saying too much, but the message – to us – was clear. He and his players want to compete to win things, not be handed them on a plate.
