Mason Mount explains ‘Anime’ celebration after ‘massive win’ against Liverpool

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been one of the best players in the squad over the last couple of seasons, consistently performing at the top level.

He scored another crucial goal for his side last night in the 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield, firing them back into the Champions League positions inside the top four in the Premier League.

Could Tammy Abraham leave Chelsea this summer? With clubs circling, find out the latest here.

Mount was assisted by a lovely pass from N’Golo Kante, but the England midfielder did the rest as he created space for a shot, and fired home.

He celebrated the goal with Ben Chilwell, and after doing his trademark ‘tongue dance’, he performed an Anime cartoon move to Chilwell, pretending to push fire out of his hands into his team mate!

If you have no idea what Anime is, you were probably wondering what this was all about!

Mount explained it after the game, and it turns out, it was all for Kurt Zouma!

As reported by Football London, Mount said:

“We take a lot of flights to away games and me and Chilly [Chilwell] sit behind Kurt Zouma on the plane and he’s always watching Anime cartoons and we always watch it from behind him, so that was the celebration.

“I said to Chilly, if I score or he scores, we do it and obviously I scored today and we did it and it was for Zouma as well.

“[It was a] massive win. Look, every game now is big, we need to get as many points now as we can to keep pushing up the table.

“We want to finish as high as we can, we’ve got the team to do it, we’re on a good run at the moment and we need to keep going, that’s the focus at the moment.

“I just try to give my best, performance-wise, if I’m starting or come off the bench, I try to do my best for the team. I feel like everyone recently has been really together, been putting really good performances together.

“Hopefully that continues and we keep pushing, but I’m happy today to get a goal.”
