Ruben Loftus-Cheek feeling like he’s getting back to his old-self again

This is music to the ears of Chelsea fans and if it isn’t, it really should be.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek was showing the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the league at the very least before he suffered a serious achilles injury.

Strained relations, ruthlessness, week of turmoil, a tactical genius, and new reign – Just a few words that feature in my dramatic latest Chelsea FC Newsletter #Issue12 – Read HERE!

Unfortunately he took a very long time to find his form and confidence when he eventually returned to playing, and that was further stunted by the ongoing global pandemic.

He ended up going out on loan in the summer, which was probably the best decision for all. And it is a move that really looks to be paying off, with the 25-year old really starting to shine at Fulham.

The England international believes he is finally getting back to his best and his old-self, and by that I just think of how he was England’s best player in the last World Cup and how devastating he was to deal with for opposition defenders.

As reported by Sky Sports, Loftus-Cheek said:

“I’m feeling more myself in games. I think all that’s missing is the goals and that will come.

“I’m really enjoying my football, enjoying fighting with the boys and hopefully we can stay up.

“Coming back from injury and dealing with that, as well as the pandemic [was difficult].

“I missed a lot of football because it was obviously postponed when everyone went into lockdown – so it was about 13 or 14 months in total.

“It was a difficult period for me personally and everyone around the world as well, but hopefully we can get back to normal soon.”
