Chelsea transfer target heaps praise on current Blues midfielder he’s looking to emulate

Chelsea have a number of players in their squad who are being looked up to as aspiration for many other players around the world right now.

N’Golo Kante is one of the best midfielders around right now, so any player playing in his position would be wise to watch his game closely and look to emulate his play.

Chelsea target (as reminded to us by The Express) Declan Rice has revealed that Kante is the player he watches and looks to model his game on playing in the same position.

Rice admits he still has a little more to learn and add to his game, but believes he is very close to being the complete midfielder.

As reported by The Times, Rice said:

“The main one I’ve always watched is Kanté in my position.

“The way he protects the back four, the way he intercepts, always in position.

“I think I’m fairly good at that but there are still things I can do that can take me to the next level.

“Sometimes in games I get sucked out of position a little bit, attracted to the ball. I’m so enthusiastic to get the ball back for the team, I’m probably just better off saving my legs sometimes.

“I do more running than I should, put it that way.

“I’m so enthusiastic just to go and win the ball back where pretty much everything would come through me anyway if I stood right in the middle. That’s what [Sergio] Busquets and Kanté do.”

The pair could soon be playing together in the same team, and he could even be seen as Kante’s long-term Chelsea replacement.

One thing for sure is if Chelsea do manage to sign Rice, I don’t fancy the new selection headache that will give Frank Lampard!
