“His vision is amazing and [I knew] he’d pick me out” – Hudson-Odoi praises assist from team mate

It has been far from plain sailing for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi of late, but last night he turned on the style in a rare start for the club.

The 20-year old has had to make do with a bit-part role in the last season or so after he first struggled with injuries, then struggled to win over Blues boss Frank Lampard.

“I hope every defender there is talking to Thiago and learning as much as they can from him” – Find out which Chelsea legend said this HERE!

But things look on the up and Lampard is starting to grow more and more faith in the England international, who rewarded his boss for that faith against Rennes in the Champions League last night.

Chelsea won 2-1 in France and it was a delightful finish from Hudson-Odoi that put Lampard’s side 1-0 up in the first half after some great work from Mason Mount to provide the assist.

There was a late scare after Rennes equalised but that was cancelled out immediately when Olivier Giroud popped up to head in the winner.

Hudson-Odoi was speaking after the game, as reported by Goal.

He said:

“Everybody is playing well at the moment but we want to keep improving.

“I need to take each opportunity I get when I’m in the team. I want to keep getting goals and assists and working hard for the team. I’m happy with the three points.

“I know Mason, he works really hard and presses well in the middle of the pitch so as soon as he got the ball I knew I was in front of the full-back.

“His vision is amazing and [I knew] he’d pick me out so I got in there and got the goal.”
