Chelsea are currently in a very good run of games this season, and there has been one major difference from last term so far.
Chelsea’s defence has been much more solid. Last season they ended the campaign as the team that conceded the most amount of goals inside the top ten.
But this season they have turned it around entirely and have now had 5 clean sheets in a row, which is the first time they have achieved this since 2010.
It’s a remarkable turnaround, and one man who has been absolutely pivotal to this is veteran centre back Thiago Silva.
The Brazilian international has been absolutely colossal since arriving at the club this summer, and he has really helped shore up Lampard’s back line.
His performances have been recognised today as it was announced that Silva has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for October.
