Chelsea could be in for £67m windfall this January to fund Declan Rice move

After Chelsea’s fantastic summer spending spree at the start of this season, you get the feeling that there was just one missing piece in Frank Lampard’s puzzle.

England and West Ham midfielder, Declan Rice.

Chelsea have been linked with signing Rice for a good amount of time now, and the rumours are only beginning to heat up, and the expectation is that Lampard will go back in for his priority signing once again in January.

According to The Express, they could fund a move for Rice by selling Antonio Rudiger, Emerson Palmieri, Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko, and Olivier Giroud.

Quoting the fees from Transfermrkt, they believe this will see Chelsea collect a £67 million windfall to go towards to signing of Rice.

Personally I cannot see too many player sales in January due to the ongoing pandemic having an effect of finances, but there is more than likely to be quite a few loan departures.
