Hakim Ziyech has come on as a substitute in Chelsea’s last two games, and plenty of Blues fans were hoping to see him play from the start against Manchester United tomorrow evening.
But reading between the lines of Frank Lampard’s press conference, that sounds unlikely now.
The Chelsea manager confirmed that he’s got effectively a full squad to pick from, but when it came to Ziyech he highlighted the need to work some match fitness into the winger, who has started just one game (a friendly) since the Eredivisie was shut down earlier this year.
As you can see in the clip below, Lampard admitted that “he still needs a bit of time” to get fit, and accordingly we’re not expecting him to start tomorrow:
