Frank Lampard hints Hudson-Odoi not working hard enough in training to start

It really was quite telling on Monday evening when despite losing two natural wingers in the summer and being without another through injury, Frank Lampard still did not hand Callum Hudson-Odoi a starting place.

The 19-year old had been really breaking through at Chelsea before Lampard arrived and before he had a bad achilles injury.

But since his return to the squad, Hudson-Odoi has failed to nail down a regular starting place.

There was issues in lockdown that saw the youngster breach some Covid-19 rules, and Lampard has said a number of times that he wants his players to work hard and prove their worth in training.

The fact that Hudson-Odoi is still not starting games for Lampard, would suggest that he is not happy with him behind the scenes.

His latest comments via The Telegraph would also reiterate this, as Lampard once again hints that Hudson-Odoi is not working hard enough in training to start matches.

“With Callum, the young player he is, he has to absolutely focus on the work he puts in on the training ground day in, day out.

“Callum is a young developing player and a lot of talk has come his way because of the way his career has gone at a young age. The facts remain the same for all young players in the squad, they have to work every day with the idea to put themselves in the frame to start.”

Something clearly isn’t right here….
