Chelsea have been unable to sign any players for the last two transfer windows due to the ban.
So it was not surprising to see Frank Lampard use a number of Chelsea’s youngsters in his squad last season, and this is something that he continues to want – a young and energetic squad.
However, at times last season it was quite obvious to see that there was a lack of experience and older heads within the squad, and it is important to gain that balance.
Lampard has already addressed this by adding the experienced leader Thiago Silva to his back line.
The Brazilian international and former PSG captain signed for the club yesterday, and there is no doubt that his experience will be a massive boost for this young Chelsea squad.
Podcast host Alex Goldberg spoke to French journalist Julien Laurens about Silva on his show The Byline recently, and his words say it all…
