The Kai Havertz transfer saga is becoming like Marmite for Chelsea fans, they either love it or they hate it.
Deals with huge fee’s like this are always going to be prolonged, especially when you factor in that a club of one of the players still had to focus on playing in the Europa League.
But Havertz and Bayer Leverkusen have just been knocked out of the competition last night, and we fully expect things to heat up even more with this deal now.
As do the experts. Simon Johnson of The Athletic is well informed, and he tweeted that Havertz ‘will come under greater focus’ now after Bayer got knocked out.
Now Bayer Leverkusen are out of the Europa League, #CFC’s bid to sign Havertz will come under greater focus. Still all about agreeing that fee.

And transfer guru Fabrizio Romano also reiterates that Havertz is the Chelsea focus and ‘total priority’ right now, suggesting the importance of getting this deal done soon, so they can start working on other essential areas of improvement.
