Frank Lampard gives green light to sell £18m left back, suggesting replacement could be near

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has reportedly given the green light to sell current left back, Emerson Palmieri.

This is according to Football Insider, who claim that the Italian international is the subject of £18m interest from Inter Milan.

The report states that Lampard recognises that he must sell players in order to raise funds for new defensive signings, and Emerson has become surplus to requirements in London.

This could be a sign that a new left back could be close for Chelsea, with Ben Chilwell and Nicolas Tagliafico largely being talked about as the main two targets, as per Sky Sports fresh report today.

If it is true and Lampard has allowed the Emerson move to start developing, it is likely that Chelsea will be quite far along with their negotiations to bring in a new left back so the deals stay in sync.

Chilwell still seems likely, despite his rumoured high fee. Chelsea may feel confident of paying a much lower fee.
