Kurt Zouma and Kepa Arrizabalaga have both had their detractors this season, and in fact in today’s game too. But the two of them saved Chelsea two massive points today with vital defensive interventions within minutes of each other.
The Blues walk away with all 3 points but Frank Lampard won’t be happy that this is what it came down to. You can see the two vital moments in the clips embedded below.
First Kepa made an incredible reaction save from Scott Dann’s header, tipping onto the post just as it looked set to creep in at the far stick:

Then, moments later a vast gap opened up in the back 4 and Jordan Ayew looked certain to score 1 on 1, before Kurt Zouma appeared from nowhere with one of his legendary slide tackles to save the day. Our hearts are still racing – we can’t take many more of these games!
